Mission & Board
Initiative
As the nonprofit partner to Greater Cleveland Aquarium, the Splash Fund empowers the Aquarium to meet internal and community expectations such as providing educational opportunities for underserved audiences, protecting the environment, and conserving animal species.
The Splash Fund provides schools with demonstrated need access to life science-based educational programs. Through our partnerships, we have provided more than $45,000 to fund experiential education for more than 10,000 students from schools with demonstrated need since 2012. Grants for specific projects with Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) have been provided by the White, Abington, and Martha Holden Jennings Foundations.
Raising awareness of issues that impact the natural world, the Splash Fund is a partner with Drink Local. Drink Tap.’s water resources education efforts. The Splash Fund supports the City of Cleveland Mayor’s Office of Sustainability on its “Skip the Straw” campaign and sponsors Alliance for the Great Lakes Beach Cleanups, galvanizing the community to remove hundreds of pounds of trash each year.
Finally, the Splash Fund is one of more than a dozen partners dedicated to the Saving and Protecting Ohio Turtle Diversity (SPOTD) program working to boost the native but threatened spotted turtle population in Northeast Ohio.
Every minute of time that Greater Cleveland Aquarium leadership provides to the Splash Fund to accomplish these programs is donated.
